The Company
Real TV has created new work for: Queensland Theatre Company (The Orphanage Project, 2003), La Boite Theatre (Kingswood Kids, 2003), Queensland Arts Council (Children of the Black Skirt, 2003) Queensland Performing Arts Stage X Youth Festival (Suitcase, 2001), Sydney Opera House and Regional Arts Victoria (Hoods, 2006). Real TV has also presented independent productions of Kingswood Kids (2002) and Princess of Suburbia, (2001).
Hoods, commissioned by Regional Arts Victoria and Sydney Opera House and was premiered in 2006 at the Sydney Opera House. Hoods was featured on the 2007 VCE play list and has been published by Currency Press. In 2007 Hoods was awarded an Australian Writer’s Guild Award for Theatre for Young Audiences as well as the Richard Wherrett Award for Excellence in Playwriting (Australia's richest playwriting prize). In 2008 Hoods toured nationally to the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane Powerhouse, through Regional Victoria and to ASSITEJ the International Festival for Young People in Adelaide. In 2010, it will tour internationally to Italy and Austria.
Real TV is currently under commission with Sydney Opera House:Ed and Regional Arts Victoria developing a new work for high school audiences, War Crimes. It is also developing a new work for children (Chook) and a location based game (One Night The Dead), supported by Arts Victoria and the State Library of Victoria.

Real TV is a Melbourne based company co founded by writer Angela Betzien and director Leticia Caceres in association with composer Pete Goodwin and Actor Jodie Le Vesconte. With their trademark fusion of physical performance, electronic music and new writing, Real TV creates compelling work that deals with issues directly relevant to young people’s experiences. Real TV’s award winning plays, Children of the Black Skirt and Hoods have toured into theatres and schools across five states and over 60,000 young people have experienced Real TV’s work.
Real TV’s seminal work, Children of the Black Skirt has toured extensively throughout Australia including to the Sydney Opera House and Adelaide’s Come Out Festival for young people. In 2005 Children of the Black Skirt featured on the VCE play list and received a Drama Victoria Award for best production by a theatre company. The play featured on the 2005 VCE play list and has been published by Currency Press. Children of the Black Skirt is doing a return season in Melbourne and touring through regional Victoria, presented by Regional Arts Victoria.
